Driving
Chemical Technology

The Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT) integrates chemical science and engineering in its research on catalysis, polymerization, kinetics, reactor design and process design. LCT is part of the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University in Belgium and member of the Centre for Sustainable Chemistry (CSC) of Ghent University. LCT aims at research excellence and bottom-up innovation in the framework of technological, industrial, and societal challenges.

I am Yi Ouyang, a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at the Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT) at Ghent University and a Guest Professor at KU Leuven. My research focuses on process intensification, combining computational fluid dynamics (CFD), visualization and experimental methods, and both theory- and data-driven approaches to advance our understanding of transport-reaction mechanisms and to drive reactor innovation.

With over a decade of experience developing novel reactor technologies for multiphase (gas-liquid/solid) systems, my work has received recognition, including the Francqui Start-Up Grant and former FWO postdoctoral fellowship. Additionally, I serve as an editor and board member for journals in our field, such as Chemical Engineering Research and Design, Chemical Engineering Journal, and Chemical Engineering and Processing: Process Intensification, roles reflecting the trust placed in my professional expertise.
