Chemical Technology

The Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT) integrates chemical science and engineering in its research on catalysis, polymerization, kinetics, reactor design and process design. LCT is part of the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University in Belgium and member of the Centre for Sustainable Chemistry (CSC) of Ghent University. LCT aims at research excellence and bottom-up innovation in the framework of technological, industrial, and societal challenges.

I.L. is a visiting professor with extensive industrial as well as academic experience. He connects chemistry, physics, engineering and computer science to create unique solutions to difficult problems demonstrated by publications in leading journals of the corresponding fields as well as industrial awards. Most recently involved in developing systems for distributed computing, large-scale data management, data analysis and machine learning models for speeding up thermodynamic property estimations of high-accuracy. He spent 9 years of his carrier as a research leader with SABIC, 14 years with The Dow Chemical Company and before that in the academia at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brandeis University.
