Chemical Technology

The Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT) integrates chemical science and engineering in its research on catalysis, polymerization, kinetics, reactor design and process design. LCT is part of the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University in Belgium and member of the Centre for Sustainable Chemistry (CSC) of Ghent University. LCT aims at research excellence and bottom-up innovation in the framework of technological, industrial, and societal challenges.

Inauguration Prof. Dr. Yi Ouyang

On Thursday, October 16, Dr. Yi Ouyang, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at the Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT), Ghent University, delivered his inaugural lecture titled "From Concept to Pilot: Vortex Reactor Technology for Next-Generation CO₂ Capture."

The event took place at the iGent site in Zwijnaarde and offered attendees a glimpse into Dr. Ouyang’s cutting-edge research, which combines computational fluid dynamics, experimental techniques, and process intensification to tackle global sustainability challenges.

Guests were invited to visit the lab before the lecture and enjoyed a warm reception afterward.

Dr. Ouyang’s multidisciplinary approach promises exciting developments in chemical reactor design and CO₂ capture technologies.
