Lennert D’Ooghe was awarded by the International Association of Catalysis Societies to facilitate his participation in ICC2024.
Lennert delivered an outstanding oral presentation on propane dehydrogenation (PDH) using Pt-Sn catalysts. His research focused on incorporating CO2 into the process (CO2-assisted PDH), which has the potential to enhance the efficiency of propylene production while also converting CO2. However, the inclusion of CO2 introduces additional complexity compared to conventional PDH, posing challenges for further process development. His presentation addressed several critical questions:
• How does CO2 interact with Pt-Sn nanoparticles?
• What is the stability of Pt-Sn nanoparticles in CO2-assisted PDH?
• How do changes in Pt-Sn nanoparticles impact propylene formation?
To tackle these questions, we employed various transient techniques such as Temporal Analysis of Products, Modulation-Excitation XAS, and Step Response analysis. Stay tuned for more details in an upcoming publication!
