Chemical Technology

The Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT) integrates chemical science and engineering in its research on catalysis, polymerization, kinetics, reactor design and process design. LCT is part of the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University in Belgium and member of the Centre for Sustainable Chemistry (CSC) of Ghent University. LCT aims at research excellence and bottom-up innovation in the framework of technological, industrial, and societal challenges.

Nature Communication contribution regarding polymer design for polymer therapeutics and hydrogels

(19-08-2019)

In a collaboration with the Supramolecular Chemistry group at Ghent University it has been demonstrated in Nature Communications (SCI-IF 2018: 11.88) that combining experimental and modeling techniques allows to visualize the monomer distribution over chains. Upon subsequent design of the chemical structures and reaction conditions highly functional copolymers can be obtained for both low and high target degrees of polymerization.

The title of the work is “Visualization and design of the functional group distribution during statistical copolymerization”
