Chemical Technology

The Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT) integrates chemical science and engineering in its research on catalysis, polymerization, kinetics, reactor design and process design. LCT is part of the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University in Belgium and member of the Centre for Sustainable Chemistry (CSC) of Ghent University. LCT aims at research excellence and bottom-up innovation in the framework of technological, industrial, and societal challenges.

catalytic conversion of CO2

Barbara Sowa holds a Master’s in Organic Chemistry and Bioprocesses from the Silesian University of Technology, Poland. She obtained her PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Melbourne in 2015. Barbara had direct research in surfaces and interfaces and colloidal systems, including adsorption, electrolytes, surfactants and emulsions, gas hydrates, nucleation and crystal growth. From 2016 to 2018 she worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Pretoria , South Africa, engaged in the project of electrochemical conversion of CO2 and analysis of the products. Further, her work involved the study of dithizonates at air-water interface for photovoltaic applications. Currently she is working as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the field of catalytic conversion of CO2 in the Laboratory for Chemical Technology of Ghent University
