Driving
Chemical Technology

The Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT) integrates chemical science and engineering in its research on catalysis, polymerization, kinetics, reactor design and process design. LCT is part of the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering, within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University in Belgium.

Education

The faculty members and researchers at the LCT are the main contributors to two programs at Ghent University:

Bachelor of Science in
Chemical Engineering and Material Science

This Bachelor has (i) a broad education in the basic sciences such as mathematics, physics and chemistry; (ii) a polyvalent technical-scientific education in the basic engineering disciplines, such as informatics, calculus of probability and statistics, analysis of systems and signals, mechanics of materials, and transport phenomena; and (iii) a profound domain-specific education in the basic disciplines of chemical technology/engineering and materials science complemented by (iv) a general social and humanitarian education.

Master of Science in
Chemical Engineering

This Master focuses on process technology in general and reactor and reaction technology in particular. A fundamental understanding and description of the phenomena in process installations and reactors and their effect on the products constitute the 'red line' in the education. A wide range of optional courses allows the student to expand his/her knowledge by specializing or broadening.
